How to Make a Difference in Your School and Community!
When most people think of making a difference in their community, what usually comes to mind is volunteering. Volunteering is a great method to make a difference, but wouldn't it be even better to start something of your own? That is how Kick It Cancer was created, and you can start something too! Here are some strategies to achieving this goal:
Become involved in organizations and clubs in school!
By becoming involved in your school, you gain leadership skills as well as communication skills. If you want to start an organization or a campaign, you can always talk to the club advisor or teacher and discuss starting your original idea of your own. Find something you are interested in, get involved, and get active. Unleash your true passion and do not be afraid to pursue the unthinkable. Do not be afraid to share leadership ideas with adults; you will never know unless you try. All it takes is one event for your organization to grow into something bigger.
Get the word out!
This step is imperative if you want your organization to become successful. Talk to friends and school faculty about promoting your platform idea. You can even write a letter to your township office to have your town get involved with you! Writing letters to similar organizations can also help because there may be opportunities where you can collaborate an event together! Put a lot of effort into your organization, and do not be afraid to get the word out; that is how people become successful.
Utilize social media!
Think about average teenagers who became successful through promotion on the internet- there are a ton! Tweet, post, message and promote, promote, promote!!! If you post original content regarding the organization you are starting, chances are people will become interested and want to learn more. Starting a website and promoting it through your social media accounts is helpful because friends and family are prone to check out your site- which enables your website to gain tons of views! Adding your website to your social media accounts also certifies that you have content of your own, and some people follow you because of that! Definitely be positive on the internet and talk about everything that you have done to promote your cause because great things will definitely follow!
Be confident!
This tip is crucial for becoming successful with your organization! People who are interested in your organization become interested in the founder of the organization as well- and they may become inspired to start something of their own! It doesn't matter if other people have bigger and better organizations; what matters most is that you are self-motivated to get to that point in the future. Being confident is something that you cannot gain in one single day; it definitely takes practice, and even people who come across super confident still may have difficulty mastering the confidence skill. Talk in an affirmative tone, be professional, and most of all, be yourself! People want to see the real you, and you can get far with your organization by just being you!
