Funding for childhood cancer research is vital in identifying new treatments and fighting for the cure. The National Cancer Institute has been funding virtually most of the funding toward various cancer research institutions and hospitals, yet inflation has been an overlaying issue in our nation's economy for the National Cancer Institute to continue its sustained funding. Cancer is the #1 disease killer of children and the NCI only provides for 4% of funding nationwide.

Kick It Cancer is honored to be a part of the movement partnering with the American Childhood Cancer Organization and the Alliance for Childhood Cancer. We have reached our goal in reinstating childhood cancer funding for the State of New Jersey with the New Jersey Legislature as New Jersey is 1 of 17 states without representation regarding healthcare reform.

"In 2010, about six hundred thousand Americans, and more than 7 million humans around the world, will die of cancer. In the United States, one in three women and one in two men will develop cancer during their lifetime. A quarter of all American deaths, and about 15 percent of all deaths worldwide, will be attributed to cancer. In some nations, cancer will surpass heart disease to become the most common cause of death."
